Giraffes are always found nibbling with their extended necks on the fresh tops of the trees. The bright yellow Acacia pom-pom flowers as a botanical element seen with its seedpods and thorns drawn in pencil. Often found at night, are little creatures looking for cover in the Acacia branches, curled up are the African Bush-baby and during the day plenty, cheeky yellow-billed hornbills eating the seeds off the ground and making a noise."

"Baobab Design with elephant" : These majestic, magical Baobabs have been standing tall for hundreds of years, found in Botswana. Elephants feast off the fruits and seed pods of the Giant Baobab, giving real scale to the size of these trees. The Baobab is home to many other little creatures such as the Fruit bat which is found hanging off the branches suckling on the nectar of the flowers. The large Ground Hornbill flies across the African skies above the Baobab."

'Mopane Tree with African Wood-Hoopoe" : Under the Mopane tree you can typically find the giant ant hills, the deep red mud stacked by these little ants built up creating mounds of soil. I have drawn in pencil the elements of the ants as well whats found underground in their nests. The Mopane tree attracts the African Wood Hoopoe eating the Mopane worm. As seen in the design the giant Mopane worm and Moth is depicted alongside drawn in the pencil sketch of the Mopane seed pod and leaves.

The big 5 is displayed in the center of the design (with a few added extras). The design has a beautiful border pattern which goes around the entire edge of the silk scarf. The pattern has been inspired by the landscape from birds eye-view. The ariel view from above that is created by the farming and wild landscape of our African land, creates the most beautiful pattern from above from water to agricultural land. The scarf is also available in a full colour version.

I wanted to create a Botanical range with African elements. One of my favourite birds is the beautiful African wood Hoopoe which I so often see in our garden, on the farm in KZN. I was inspired by its rust colouring and incorporated deep chocolate brown as the backdrop to the vibrant lime creeper vine. Mixed with the Hummingbirds making it a fun combination with a few bugs thrown in too.

The artwork is hand-painted and digitally scanned and printed internationally. These silk scarves are seriously luxurious, soft, and beautiful.
